Preparations for the General round of Economic Olympiad 2024. competition, with more than <\/strong>500 competitors from 58 secondary schools from all parts of Bosnia and Hercegovina,<\/strong>have started on Tuesday, March 26th, at the Faculty of Economics in Sarajevo, also being the co-organizer of the competition. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n

Economic Olympiad is the international competition in the field of economics and financial literacy for European secondary school students, 14 to 20 years of age, regardless to the actual course of education.<\/p>\n\n

Preparations for the fourth Economic Olympiad in BH shall take place from 26.03 – 01.07.2024. All secondary school students from Bosnia and Hercegovina are entitled to participate, as well as independent individual candidates. <\/p>\n\n

Preparatory lectures for the General round of EO 2024. started on March 26th at the Faculty of Economics in Sarajevo (EFSA), the project co-organizer together with Liberal Forum in Bosnia and Hercegovina. Lectures are delivered by professors Aziz \u0160unje<\/strong>, Hatid\u017ea Jahi\u0107<\/strong> and Adnan Muminovi\u0107<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n

According to prof. dr. Hatid\u017ee Jahi\u0107<\/strong>, professor at the Faculty of Economics in Sarajevo (EFSA) and Advisor for economic affairs to the Chair of Presidency of Bosnia and Hercegovina, interest for this prestigious international competition is constantly growing. <\/p>\n\n

More than 500 participants from 58 secondary schools registered for the competition <\/strong><\/p>\n\n

\u201cOver 500 contesters from 58 secondary schools registered for the fourth Economic Olympiad, which is substantially more than last year. During the competition, participants are able to gain knowledge in different field of economics. Economic and financial literacy are becoming key aspects of modern society, imperative and burning issue in complex economic and social environment of Bosnia and Hercegovina\u201d, said professor Jahi\u0107.<\/p>\n\n

Without Regional round of competition this year<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

Novelty in the EO BH 2024. project, according to Aida Hasanagi\u0107<\/strong>, Project Coordinator from Liberal Forum BH, is omitting the Regional round of competition, and organizing General and Final round of competition. <\/p>\n\n

\u201cUpon two national rounds of competitions, top five contesters will have an opportunity to represent Bosnia and Herzegovina at the international finals of Economic Olympiad taking place on 1. – 4. September in Athens, Greece\u201d, stated Hasanagi\u0107.<\/p>\n\n

Call for project support<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

Hasanagi\u0107 also appealed companies in BH to support the project of Economic Olympiad, having exceptional significance for students and economy as a whole. <\/p>\n\n

Unfortunately, the only company supporting the project so far is Mikrokreditna organizacija LIDER<\/a><\/strong> Sarajevo.<\/em> <\/p>\n\n

According to D\u017eavid Sejfovi\u0107<\/strong>, Director of Microcredit Foundation LIDER<\/a><\/strong>, corporate social responsibility, care for community and support to young people are important missions of the Foundation.<\/p>\n\n

\"\"<\/a><\/figure>\n\n

\u201cWe are pleased and proud to be in position to support these talented young people and enjoy attending the Final competition and observing the huge quantity of knowledge they have. I am convinced that they know more about economy than many of decision makers at the state and entity level deciding on crucial issues related to economic development of our country\u201d, said Sejfovi\u0107.<\/p>\n\n

Sejfovi\u0107 also adds that we often hear a slogan “the world remains on youth\u201c.<\/p>\n\n

\u201dI shall not discuss the shape in which we leave the world to young people, but for them to have grounds for future, we need to invest in them and give them the opportunity to gain necessary knowledge and skills. In times when almost each company in BIH face serious problem in recruiting of qualified employees, by investing in this and similar projects, employers may heavily contribute to resolving this problem\u201d, said Sejfovi\u0107. <\/p>\n\n
